Dr. Anisha Kumar explains what an endodontist is and what their role involves

Hello everyone, I’m Dr. Anisha Kumar, I’m a Specialist Endodontist at Precision Dental Clinic. Now, most people usually ask us this question, “What exactly is an endodontist?” An endodontist is a dentist who usually specializes in treating dental pain. So, if you have any pain in your mouth, we are the ones who usually diagnose the pain for you and then treat it for you. The treatment that endodontists do is the root canal treatment. We also do root canal retreatments and we also do periapical surgeries. We get additional training of about three to four years after our dental school so that we can specialize in endodontics. What exactly do you mean by this is, our tooth usually has a nerve which is called as the dental pulp, and whenever we have any infection or inflammation in this dental pulp, it usually causes us pain. And as endodontists, we remove and treat this infection, so that you are completely painless.
